On the morning of June 9, the Phnom Penh City Bo Senchi District Government decided to temporarily close the Kunzhou Garment Factory due to the discovery of 302 confirmed cases.
According to the deputy director of the district, 302 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 through sampling and testing of 3,880 employees at the factory. Currently, the government has temporarily closed the factory and a nearby market to prevent the epidemic from spreading further.
According to the landlord, on June 8 At night, the local government placed roadblocks around Kunzhou Garment Factory to enforce closure measures. That night, many workers living near Kunzhou Garment Factory packed up their things and left the rental houses where they lived.
It is understood that at least 40% of workers have fled from rental housing.
A worker revealed that the reason why everyone quietly left the rental house was that they could not bear to live in a closed place because they could not go out to shop or go to work. Moreover, currently Kunzhou Garment Factory has closed down and has not paid wages to its employees, so they can only leave first.
In order to control the epidemic, the Phnom Penh City Government decided on June 9 to classify the area where the workers are located as a medium-risk orange zone for the epidemic, including Zongzhou 3 subdivision in Bosen Chi district Parts of Baipingbei 2 Village, Teben Bodhi Village and Zunbuwan 2 Village for 14 days.
201 people diagnosed at Aeon Garment Factory in Phnom Penh
June 10 After the Hun Sen Young Volunteer Doctors Association (TYDA) conducted nucleic acid tests on 947 workers at Yongwang Garment Factory (Y&W), it was found that 201 workers were diagnosed with COVID-19.
Currently, all patients have been sent to Diamond Island and Toupon Lo Medical Center for treatment. The remaining undiagnosed workers must be quarantined at home for 14 days.
