Yarn-dyed weaving refers to a process in which yarn or filament is dyed first, and then the colored yarn is used for weaving. Different from the printing and dyeing method where the woven fabric is printed and dyed, the yarn is dyed first and then the colored yarn is used for weaving, which has a unique style.
The colors of yarn-dyed fabrics are mostly bright and bright, and the patterns are also distinguished by color contrast. Generally speaking, yarn-dyed fabric refers to fabric woven by shuttle looms, but knitting machines can also make yarn-dyed knitted fabrics.
Yam-dyed weaving can be divided into full-dyed weaving and semi-dyed weaving
Full-dyed weaving: There are dyed or partially dyed yarns in the warp and weft (or there are several colored yarns interwoven with white yarns in the fabric).
Half-dyed weaving: The yarns in the warp or weft are dyed or partially dyed.
The reasons why fabrics are all-dyed:
❶In order to achieve different color effects – the same raw material can not be dyed in different colors after printing and dyeing. This can be done with yarn-dyed fabrics.
❷Requirements for color fastness and shade – yarn-dyed products have good color fastness and good shade. C Requirements for a sense of layering – a good sense of layering is required.
The reasons why fabrics are semi-dyed:
❶ Differences in warp and weft raw materials – using warp and weft yarn raw materials Different performance requirements for dyeing are different, so half-dyed fabrics can be used.
❷Reduce costs and increase styles.
The difference between yarn-dyed weaving and printed dyeing
Yarn-dyed – dyeing yarn and then using colored yarn to weave fabrics, such as many shirt fabrics, denim, etc.
Printing and dyeing – the woven fabrics are printed and dyed, such as many printed cloths with rich and colorful patterns.
Characteristics of yarn-dyed fabrics
Advantages
Strong three-dimensional effect: yarn-dyed fabrics use yarns of different colors to match the fabric structure to form various beautiful patterns, which are better than ordinary ones. Printed fabrics have a three-dimensional feel.
Good color fastness: Because the yarn-dyed fabric is dyed with raw yarn, the dye has strong penetrability, so the color fastness is good.
Rich colors: Multi-shuttle and dobby weaving are used to weave yarn-dyed fabrics, which can interweave different fibers or different yarn counts into varieties with rich colors and clever patterns.
Unique style: Because yarn-dyed fabrics use colored yarns or patterned yarns and various tissue changes, they can be woven into beautiful and unique styles.
Disadvantages
Due to yarn dyeing, The losses in weaving, finishing and other processes are large, and the output produced in Taiwan is not as high as that of white gray cloth, so the input cost is high and the technical requirements are high.
Production process of yarn-dyed fabric factory
The production process of yarn-dyed fabrics is divided into two types: tube dyeing and shaft dyeing according to the warp dyeing method. Regardless of the size of the unit, tube dyeing can be used, but the process is long and it also brings some inconvenience to cost control. The shaft dyeing method has a shorter process, less loss of warp yarns, and better cloth color control. According to our company’s current equipment configuration, it is suitable for single-volume dyeing of more than 2,000 meters.
The yarn-dyed fabric factory is divided into three main workshops: dyeing workshop, weaving workshop, and finishing workshop according to different processes. It also has departments such as production planning, equipment power, and process technology. . The following mainly introduces the three major processes: dyeing, weaving and finishing.
