According to recent statistical updates from the General Administration of Customs, from January to October this year, national textile and apparel exports totaled US$256.53 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.7% (a year-on-year decrease of 1.3% in RMB terms). Among them, textile exports were US$117.68 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 9.1% (a year-on-year decrease of 16% in RMB); clothing exports were US$138.85 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25.2% (a year-on-year increase of 15.8% in RMB).
In October, my country’s textile and apparel exports were US$28.94 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.5% (a year-on-year increase of 10.3% in RMB). Among them, textile exports in that month were US$12.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7.3% (a year-on-year increase of 1.5% in RMB), returning to positive monthly growth for the first time since the second quarter of this year. Clothing exports in October were US$16.44 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.7% (a year-on-year increase of 18.1% in RMB).
In the first three quarters of this year, my country’s textile exports to Southeast Asia, South Asia and African countries grew rapidly. For example, exports to Vietnam were US$10.82 billion, a year-on-year increase of 31.8%, accounting for 10.3% of global textile exports during the same period; exports to Bangladesh, Indonesia and Cambodia increased by 52.6%, 52.7% and 40.4% respectively. From January to September, my country’s textile exports to India and Pakistan in South Asia and Nigeria in Africa also achieved high growth, with exports increasing by 90.7%, 67.3% and 54.5% respectively year-on-year. </p
