According to CCTV News, on December 28, 2021, an explosion occurred at Linfen Dyeing and Chemical Group Co., Ltd. in Linfen City, Shanxi Province, killing four people.
After preliminary investigation and analysis, the direct cause of the accident was: there was a leak in the discharge steam jacket pipe between the nitrification separator and the water washing pot in the dinitrile workshop. The hot work ticket was not completed and the safety measures were not implemented. Repair welding (electric welding work) was performed on the leaking point of the jacketed pipe, which caused the 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene in the discharge pipe to decompose and explode due to heat.
Currently, the detailed cause of the accident is under further investigation.
