Do we often hear about “wound infection” in our lives? In response to this phenomenon, Egyptian scientists developed silver ion dressing cloth to prevent wound infection.
Because diabetes has anti-blood clotting effects and weakens the immune system, people with diabetes are often at risk for serious infections after open wounds.
A scientific research team at Alexandria University in Egypt has developed a silver ion dressing method to promote wound healing in diabetic patients and reduce the threat of infection.
The dressing material is composed of nanofiber materials made of low-cost cellulose acetate. These fibers are electrospun and added with silver nanoparticles. When the good antibacterial properties of silver ions are exerted, metal poisoning will not occur.
This material is permeable to liquid and air, so it can breathe easily while the wound heals, while also providing good protection.
When tested in the laboratory on open wounds on diabetic mice, the results were good. The dressing cloth of this material can provide very good antibacterial protection while accelerating the healing of collagen in skin tissue.
