The new TITAN firefighting suit jointly developed by DuPont and Hainsworth Protective Fabrics in the United States achieved zero burn prediction in recent tests. According to George Farenden, head of the firefighting suit R&D team, the firefighting suit uses a patented double-layer fabric structure. This combination of protective fiber and fabric structure makes the suit one of the safe, comfortable and advanced protective suit systems in the world. The fabric used in this firefighting suit is a blend of DuPont’s Titan fiber and Nomex fiber, which can provide a unique combination of fire resistance and durability, while improving the resistance to high heat and flames, even if it is placed in an explosive environment. It will melt and drip onto the skin. It will not support combustion in the air and will self-extinguish once removed from an open flame or heat source. At the same time, the weight of the entire firefighting suit is 1/3 of the single firefighting suit currently equipped by firefighters. The wearer of the new TITAN suit suffered burn injuries ranging from zero to 3% after escaping from the flames for up to 8 seconds.
