拒水面料(Waterepellent fabric)是指织物在不经受任何外力作用的静态条件下,对抗水面料渗透作用的能力。拒水面料织物可以允许气态的水通过,而静态条件下又不允许液态水渗透,其实质是不允许水湿润织物。这就要求面料织物有低的表面能。
防水透湿面料(Waterproof and Moisture Permeable fabric)是指织物在施加水压的情况下也完全不透水,日常使用中又能透过水蒸气,并在整个使用期内始终保持这一特性的能力。其实质是水蒸气分子和水滴体积之间存在着巨大差别。为提高防水性,通常情况下要求这种织物外表面不易被不湿润。美国纺织化学家和染色家协会(AATCC)和美国材料试验学会(ASTM)把拒性定义为织物抗渗透的能力或者两者兼有。

There are two ways for liquid water to enter the inside of clothing through the fabric of clothing: </p

2. Under a certain external pressure or its own kinetic energy, water directly penetrates the gaps and holes in the fabric and enters the inside of the fabric. This situation is not only related to the surface energy and surface roughness, but also depends to a large extent on the larger size of the fabric.
