Wearable fitness and smart clothing technology company Sensoria is developing a series of smart sports bras and T-shirts that can be connected to its new version 2.0 fitness app to monitor the wearer’s heart rate through washable electrodes embedded in the fabric.

Sensoria said the new app features an algorithm created and tested by cardiologists called “Heart Sentinel,” which can detect certain arrhythmias to prevent tragic events and can alert specific families or families through text messages. Potential problems with friends. “Heart Sentinel” can also locate a person’s location using GPS coordinates.

New ready-to-wear garments include medium support sports bras for women and short-sleeved T-shirts for men. Electrodes embedded in the fabric mean wearers no longer need to wear separate chest straps.

Each Sensoria garment is made from Emana yarn, a polyamide smart yarn with far-infrared yarn technology. Emana gauze can not only keep the wearer dry and comfortable, but also prevent damage from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. It can also improve skin elasticity and help reduce the appearance of cellulite and muscle fatigue.

Davide Vigano, CEO and co-founder of Sensoria, said: “We designed this new smart clothing series to meet the needs of long-distance runners, cyclists and fitness enthusiasts. The electrodes are embedded in the fabric of Sensoria fitness sports bras or T-shirts. Comfortable and washable, it completely replaces the original chest strap.”

The garment can be used with Sensoria’s Bluetooth HRM component, the Sensoria fitness app for iOS and Android, other HRM devices such as Polar H7 or Garmin Premium, and apps such as Strava, Endomondo, PolarBeat or MapMyRun.

Pre-orders for this new smart ready-to-wear collection will begin during a crowdfunding campaign starting in June this year (2016). The fundraising campaign is to meet the goal of manufacturing and producing red and blue mid-support sports bras and short-sleeved T-shirts. Sensoria plans to use the additional funds raised to produce new color products.
