The use of steel healds

1. Selection of steel healds
The length of the steel healds is related to the requirements of the warp opening. Long healds are used for large openings, and short healds are used for small openings. The length can be determined according to

(2) The C-shaped heddle eye is located at the center of the heddle length, and can be in different positions as needed.
(3) J-shaped and O-shaped heddle eyes are located 5mm above the center of the heddle length. They can also be in different positions according to needs.
2. Selection of C-shaped and J-shaped single-row eccentric steel plate heddle eyes
(1) The shapes and dimensions of C-shaped and J-shaped single-row eccentric steel plate heddle eyes are shown in Figure 7-6 and the table 7-5.

(2) The position of the CP-shaped steel sheet heddle eye is in the center, and can also be in different positions according to needs.
(3) The position of the JP-shaped steel sheet heald eye is 5mm above the center of the heald body. It can also be in different positions according to needs.
(4) The position of the OP-shaped steel heddle eye is at the center, 5mm above the center or 10mm above the center.
3. Selection of steel sheet heald density
Steel sheet heald density refers to the number of steel sheet healds per cm on the heddle rod after the fabric is put on the machine. If the density of the steel sheet heald is too large, it will increase the friction between the steel sheet heald and the warp yarns; if the density is too small, it will increase the number of heald frames, causing a large difference in warp tension between the front and rear heald frames. At the same time, the sliding gap of the heald ears in the heald rods increases, resulting in accelerated wear of the heald ears.
(1) For the selection of comprehensive density of C-shaped, J-shaped and O-shaped steel sheets, see Table 7-7.

4. Selection of steel healds
Select the type of steel healds according to the cross-section of the heald rods on the heald frame of the loom.
Figure 7-8 Heddle penetration rod is mainly suitable for C-shaped single row and double row steel sheet healds.
Figure 7-9 Heddle penetration rod is mainly suitable for J-shaped single row and double row steel sheet healds.
Figure 7-10 Heddle penetration rod is mainly suitable for closed single-row and double-row steel sheet healds.

5. Abnormal damage and causes of steel healds
(1) Heald eye wear is caused by sand or hard substances in the slurry.
(2) The heddle eye is strained and deformed because the heddle hook and heddle eye size used when threading the warp yarn do not match.
(3) Heald lug wear and breakage is caused by incomplete smoothness of the surface of the heddle rod or improper matching of the fillet and arc of the heddle lug, excessive dimensional tolerance of the hedal rod and over-tight fit of the heddle lug, or Because the heddle rod clamp falls off and the heddle rod bends, the heddle ears collide and wear.
(4) Steel sheet deformation. The reason is improper operation during disassembly, transportation, cleaning and storage.
6. Weaving defects caused by defective steel heddles
(1) The heddle eyes are rough, straining the warp yarns, and in severe cases, causing warp breakage.
(2) The heald ears penetrate each other on the heald threading rod, which can easily cause menstruation.
(3) The steel sheet healds are of different sizes or bent, resulting in inflexible movement on the heald rods, resulting in striped shadows.
(4) The surface of the steel sheet heald is unclean, and defects will occur on the cloth surface during weaving.
