In order to prevent the online data of the wastewater outlet of the sewage treatment station from exceeding the standard, the company “simply and crudely” directly extracted Zhuxi River water or used tap water to dilute the production wastewater at the outlet and reduce the relevant values, resulting in the company’s online monitoring data Distortion, escaping supervision. Finally, a large amount of production wastewater containing pollutants was openly discharged directly into the Zhuxi River and then merged into the Yangtze River, causing serious pollution to the ecological environment along the Yangtze River.
Subsequently, the District Public Security Bureau, together with the environmental protection department, immediately ordered the company to stop production, terminate discharge behavior, and take samples of the discharged wastewater. At the same time, the two company leaders were summoned to the public security agency. During the interrogation, the two suspects confessed to the crime of diluting production wastewater, interfering with monitoring equipment, and polluting the environment.
“After sampling and monitoring by relevant departments, the production wastewater discharged by this company exceeded the national discharge standard by five times. Its behavior of ‘hiding the eyes and ears’ only superficially allowed the discharge to meet the standards, but in reality it was discharging production wastewater and pollutants without treatment. Discharged into the external environment, seriously polluting the environment and affecting the ecology, the behavior is very bad.” According to the police handling the case, the police found out that the company had discharged more than 80,000 tons of excessive wastewater into the Yangtze River.
Currently, the two people have been subject to criminal coercive measures by the police on suspicion of environmental pollution crimes, and the case is still being processed.
