As the saying goes, “It costs more than three thousand to make a living or die.” Workers work hard overtime for a month just to be able to start buying and selling again on the day when their wages are paid at the end of the month!
But if there is a case of malicious non-payment of wages and labor remuneration, can you moonlight clan members withstand it?
Recently, the Guangzhou Zengcheng police successfully uncovered a malicious arrears incident involving a total wage arrears of more than 2.2 million yuan!
In 2013, Wei and Lu, the heads of a textile and garment company in Guangzhou, owed more than 2.2 million yuan in salary to 280 employees due to poor management.
After the Zengcheng District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau learned of the situation, it immediately launched an investigation and found that Wei and Lu owed more than 2.2 million yuan in wages to workers, and then transferred the case to Zengcheng police.
During the investigation, Zengcheng police discovered that because the company was running out of money, Wei and Lu had already absconded. In 2013, Zengcheng police quickly arrested Lu (male, 40 years old, from Guangdong) through investigation, but Wei (male, 52 years old, from Guangxi) was still absconding.
The Zengcheng police have never relaxed in their arrest of Wei. After years of visits and investigations, they finally got clues about Wei’s activities in Guangxi in mid-September 2021.
Wei is quite cunning, and will immediately move his hiding place as soon as he discovers any “trouble”. Just as the police handling the case were preparing to rush to Guangxi to arrest him, Wei moved to Dongguan City, Guangdong Province and hid again. Wei didn’t know that his every move had already been grasped by the police handling the case.
Recently, on a street in Dongguan, a man wearing casual clothes and reading glasses came into the sight of the police handling the case. This man was none other than Wei.
Although Wei’s appearance has changed significantly over the past eight years, the policeman handling the case still recognized him at a glance. The moment the cold handcuffs were placed on Wei’s hands, his eight-year absconding career came to an end.
The police reminded that refusing to pay labor remuneration is an illegal and criminal act. For malicious wage arrears, the public security organs will work with relevant government departments to severely crack down and deal with them in accordance with the law, and hold relevant enterprises, institutions, and individuals legally responsible.
After eight years, 280 workers were owed 2.2 million in wages and finally received a response this year.
