On March 11, a photo and video of billowing smoke and flames were circulated online, and some media reported that a fire broke out in a chemical fiber factory in our city. The reporter learned from the Municipal Emergency Management Bureau that the location of the fire was a warehouse of the Hailu Lubricant Business Department located on 80 acres of Shangwang Street.
At 11:20 on March 11, the Ruian Fire Rescue Brigade Command Center received an alarm: a fire broke out in a warehouse of the Hailu Lubricant Sales Department in Shangwang Street. Immediately, the command center dispatched fire trucks to the scene. At the same time, the emergency department, public security and other departments arrived at the scene for joint processing. At 11:45, the fire brigade arrived at the scene. At 12:25, the fire was basically under control (as shown in the picture). At 12:50, the fire was basically extinguished.
Lin Chuanxing, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Municipal Emergency Management Bureau, corrected some media reports that the fire occurred in a chemical fiber factory. “The fire broke out in a warehouse of the Hailu Lubricant Operations Department, located in the northwest corner of the kitchen of the chemical fiber factory. It is more than 70 meters away from the chemical fiber production workshop and warehouse.” He said that after the relatives of the boss of the operation department arrived at the scene, they were worried about the scene. The staff conducted an inventory and confirmed that all three personnel were safe and sound. According to relevant experts, lubricating oil is not a hazardous chemical and has a relatively high flash point. It is generally not easy to catch fire and will not explode even if it catches fire.
After preliminary investigation, it was found that the building where the fire broke out was a single-story colored steel shed structure with a construction area of about 100 square meters. At the moment, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
