Water-repellent, oil-repellent, and stain-repellent properties are commonly known as the “three defenses.”
Water repellency: The fabric has the ability to resist water wetting
Oil repellency: Fabric has the ability to resist oily liquids.
Contamination repellency: After the fabric is contaminated, the ability to easily remove the dirt using ordinary washing or wiping methods is also called “easy stain removal performance”.
1) Test method
Water repellency: GB/T4745-2012 “Water repellency method for testing and evaluation of waterproof properties of textiles”
Oil repellency: GB/T19977-2014 “Textiles Oil Repellency and Hydrocarbon Resistance Test”
Method overview: A series of selected hydrocarbon standard test solutions with different surface tensions are dropped onto the sample surface, and then the wetting, wicking and contact angle conditions are observed. The oil repellency level is expressed by the highest number of the test fluid that did not wet the sample.
Contamination repellency: FZ/T01118-2012 “Testing and Evaluation of Anti-fouling Properties of Textiles and Ease of Contamination Removal”
Method overview: First, treat the sample with oil. After the sample is left to stand for a period of time under a heavy hammer or dried, clean the sample according to the prescribed method. The easy decontamination of the sample is evaluated by comparing the color difference between the stained part and the unstained part of the sample after cleaning using a gray sample card.
