Selection of air jet reed

The important thing when using an air-jet reed is to select the appropriate structure and specifications according to different types of looms and fabrics. The selection should be based on the air-jet reed drawings and related technical requirements provided by the original loom factory. 1. Selection of steel reed 1. Select the reed number according to the variety, specification and process requirements of the fabric. (1) Selection of metric reed number: The metric reed number can be calculated according to the following formula. Generally, an integer is taken, and the reed number ranges from 50 to 330 reed/ 10cm, chemical fiber 70~400 reed/10cm.
2. Reed blade gaps of various reed sizes The appropriate reed gap is particularly necessary for the efficiency of the air-jet loom and the quality of the fabric. The recommended reed gap can only be used as a reference. The suitable reed gap can only be obtained through practical experience. This can only be achieved by fully understanding the types of spinning fabrics. Table 8-8 and Table 8-9 are the reference tables for the reed blade gaps of various reed sizes for cotton fabrics and chemical fiber fabrics.

3. Warp density and reed size When the fabric is trial weaved, the reed size can be pre-selected according to the warp density reference table. After trial weaving, appropriate adjustments were made to determine the officially used reed size. Table 8-10 is applicable to the reed size with 2, 3, and 4 reeds inserted into each reed gap of the ground warp tissue.

4. Warp yarn reed width The warp yarn reed width can be calculated according to the following formula:
The warp yarn reed width should generally be less than or equal to the warp yarn reed width of the loom, and the warp yarn reed width should be large. The relationship between the reed width and the nominal reed width of the loom is shown in Table 8-11 (taking the Tsudakoma loom as an example).
5. Reeding method Taking the Tsudakoma loom as an example: (1) Start reeding from the second tooth gap on the left. The left tooth gap is the edge of the cloth and can be left open. (2) The planetary selvedge yarn has two situations: the same reed tooth gap as the warp end yarn (the second reed tooth gap on the left) or interspersed in the outer reed tooth gap. (3) The twisted edge yarn is usually inserted into the reed tooth gap. (4) The thread-end treated yarn is usually inserted into 1 to 2 threads at a position 5mm away from the weft detecting head. (5) When threading the reed, it has nothing to do with the reed width. The yarn should be threaded from the left side of the reed, with the remaining reed teeth on the right side. 6. Selection of tapered mouth (flare mouth) The tapered mouth special-shaped reed is suitable for multi-nozzle looms and is widely used in jacquard shedding looms. The tapered mouth is mostly used at the left entrance of the air-jet reed. Some looms are also used on the left and right sides of the air-jet reed. (1) Selection of tapered mouth length: Currently, the commonly used tapered mouth length is between 20 and 115mm, which is used in Tsudakoma, Toyota, Picano, Dornier, Shumate and other looms. Shumate looms are selected according to Table 8-12.
(2) Selection of cone mouth shape: There are currently five main types of cone mouth shapes, namely tooth cone, mouth cone, double cone, oblique cone, and three-way cone. Tooth cone and double cone are widely used. It can be selected according to the model of the loom and the condition of the fabric. This requirement can be made to the manufacturer when ordering the air-jet reed. 7. Selection of reinforced teeth Some fabrics and fibers require the reed teeth to have high wear resistance. Generally, 1.5 to 5cm of reinforced reed teeth can be added to the left entrance. If the position of the fabric on the right side can be determined, reinforced reed teeth can also be installed. This requirement can be made to the manufacturer when ordering the air reed. Generally, chrome-plated reinforcement sheets or DLC high wear-resistant reinforcement sheets can be used. 8. Install double springs. Double springs can be added according to the special requirements of the fabric and loom. This requirement can be made to the manufacturer when customizing the air reed. Most air-jet loom manufacturers require double springs to be added when the reed thickness is ≤0.17mm. When Bijale and Dornier looms require reed thickness ≤ 0.2mm, double springs are added.
